Bombay Rani, Bombay Queen

This collection is an adaptation of ancestral craft and love for my family. Familial energy defies perceived boundaries and physical distance. I paired my exploration of knitwear and denim to reflect the colors and trends I grew up seeing in family photos and draperies. Each piece is a celebration of the day-to-day lives my family lived in the South Asian region that is often viewed through the lens of myth, imperial riches, and popular media. Phrases like “I love my India”and “Bombay” are reclaimed for the t-shirt/sweater to symbolize the love of the place and its people.
